Just bought a CIC idrive controller, mount and trim from a 2010 model E70 (UK) to upgrade my CCC idrive controller in my 2009 model as I was told it was just plug and play from a local BMW specialist. Alas It lights up fine but wont control anything.

5. Release the button briefly and push it in again and hold for about 5 - 10 seconds until the new date appears in the bottom window. You can then switch the ignition off and the new Brake Fluid date will appear in the service menu on the i-drive screen next time you switch on. 6.
1. Open the glovebox. 2. Remove the plastic cover in the back of the glovebox, this is the cover that hides the DVD changer. 3. Remove the lower part of the glovebox. This is a section that must be gently separated from the upper portion. I used a combination of plastic pry tools to loosen the glue holding it together.

There is a micro switch in the trunk lock actuator that work as trunk light switch and at the same time trunk open warning sensor . my e60 same problem was related that micro switch due its arm maladjusted and that flexible metal arm was crooked by unknown reason. i turned it back to the original location as proper point and now it turn on

The software fix is an i level upgrade which is supposed to fix 95% of cars, unfortunately not in my case so a new headunit has been fitted under warranty, while this issue still exists its a good idea to keep the car under warranty as a new unit is £1,500 + vat + fitting & coding. So the total cost is well over £2K. Nobody seems to have an answer as to what causes the problem. The answer is always to replace the CCC. I tried having my CCC software updated at a local indy shop with no success. Was quoted $1700 parts and labor for a new one. Bought a used one from an 08 M5 online, and will try to swap it out. 3) For your 2004-up BMW 7 series you can use our universal module (cut 3 wires) or our plug and play unit part number BMW-7. 4) The 2004-up BMW 5 (E60) and 6 series (E63, E64) come in plug and play only and use a new digital RGB unit. The BMW 5 and 6 series part number is BMW56. You will need an additional DVD player, back-up camera or PS2/XBOX YSx5iXb.
