Hi everyone. I bought this 99 civic ek a few months back, and I was having tons of electrical problems that seem to come and go. Recently, it appears as though my starter is going. Tends to work when it wants, but most of the time, the engine starts just fine. When it gives me trouble, the
The ek9 handles better but the teg is faster (pulls better after around 90 mph) although the ek9 is faster to 60. yes all ek9s have b16b engines and dc2s have b18c engines. I would go for the ek9 cause the drive is better all round and if you want more power just put a teg engine in the ek9 sorts everything out.
The very first Honda Civic Type R was launched on the EK9 platform on August 19, 1997. The 1.6-liter B16B engine was naturally aspirated, but still managed to churn out 182 horsepower, making
Although the B16B shared its displacement with other B-series engines of the time period, the Civic Type R B-series engine was a true Type R in every sense of the word, literally a race engine for the streets with the right modifications. This B16B got exclusive hand porting from the factory that increased HP up to 182 HP at 8,200 RPM and 118 Up next is the B20-powered EK9 Civic Type R, which, visually, looks the most hardcore of the bunch. The video notes that the engine uses a B20B block with a B16B head. However, instead of doing a time attack hot lap, the group, instead, jumps right into a three car track battle, since the EP3 is out for the day. The heart of the Honda Civic EK9 Type R is its 1.6-liter VTEC engine, also known as the B16B engine. This high-revving engine is a work of art, and it’s what gives the EK9 Type R its soul. Utilizing Honda’s VTEC technology allowed the engine to remain fuel efficient at low RPMs and release a wave of performance at higher RPMs. The EK9 shared many characteristics with the Integra Type R DC2/JDM DB8 such as omission of sound deadening and other weight reduction measures, a hand-ported 1.6-litre DOHC VTEC B16B 4-cylinder engine, front-helical limited-slip differential and a close-ratio 5-speed manual transmission. fDHeMT.
